Moving a Script to Another Project

As your production evolves, you may need to reorganize your content by moving scripts between projects. Think Crew provides a straightforward way to transfer scripts while preserving all their associated data and breakdowns.

When to Move Scripts

You might need to move scripts between projects in scenarios such as:

  • Reorganizing production materials into separate projects
  • Starting a new season of a multi-season series
  • Consolidating related scripts into a single project

How to Move a Script

  1. From the Scripts page, click the “Select” button to enter select mode
  2. Select the script(s) you want to move by clicking the checkbox in the top left corner
  3. Click the “Move” button in the top menu bar
  4. In the dialog that appears, select the destination project from the dropdown menu

What Happens When Moving Scripts

When you move a script to another project:

  • The script and all its content (scenes, dialogue, formatting) transfer to the new project
  • Script breakdowns and elements move with the script
  • Script permissions are updated to match the destination project’s settings
  • The script is removed from the original project
  • Any schedule references in the original project will need to be updated

Important Considerations

Before moving scripts, keep in mind:

  • You must have Edit permissions in both the source and destination projects
  • If the script is currently used in a schedule, you should review and update those schedules after moving
  • The move action can’t be automatically undone, so verify your destination project before confirming

Moving scripts between projects helps maintain an organized workspace as your production needs evolve, ensuring your team always has access to the relevant materials in the appropriate context.
