Breakdowns are the building blocks of your production schedule in Think Crew. They represent individual scenes or production elements that need to be planned and scheduled.
What is a Breakdown?
A breakdown in Think Crew is a data object that contains all the necessary information about a scene or production element, including:
- Scene numbers
- Interior/Exterior (I/E) designation
- Day/Night (D/N) timing
- Location information
- Script page count
- Duration estimates
- Elements assigned to the scene (cast, props, etc.)
- Description of the scene content
- Comments for the production team
Types of Breakdowns
Think Crew supports three main types of breakdowns:
- Strip Breakdowns: The standard breakdown type representing a scene
- Banner Breakdowns: Text elements that serve as section headers in your schedule
- Day Breakdowns: Markers that indicate the start of a new shooting day
Working with Breakdowns
Breakdowns can be:
- Created manually or imported from scripts
- Linked to script scenes for automatic updates
- Grouped together for easier management
- Split into multiple parts (for complex scenes)
- Merged (to combine related scenes)
- Moved between boards via drag and drop
- Given color-coding for visual organization
Properly created breakdowns are essential for accurate scheduling, resource allocation, and day-to-day production management in Think Crew.
