Design Strip Menu Bar – Categories

The Categories section of the strip designer menu bar allows you to incorporate category-specific information into your strips. This powerful feature helps you display the most relevant data fields based on the type of production element you’re working with.

Understanding Categories

Categories organize different types of production elements such as scenes, cast, crew, locations, and equipment. The Categories menu lets you display the categories and elements in your strip.

Working with Category Fields

Adding categories to your strip design is most commonly done when creating a full shooting schedule.

If you want to add a categories block to your strip:

  • Click the “Include Categories” check box

You will be able to see categories appear in the strip preview below.

Options

You have the following options to help configure the categories in your strip:

  • Use All Categories: If you would like all categories to appear in your strip click this checkbox
  • Select Categories: If you would only like some of the available categories to appear, select them from this dropdown
  • Skip Empty Categories: If you would like Think Crew to skip any empty categories in your strip, click this checkbox

Properly utilizing the Categories menu allows you to create strips that display exactly the information your team needs for each type of production element, improving workflow efficiency and communication clarity.
