# Printing Schedules

Think Crew lets you print your boards, your Day Out of Days and a set of production reports, ready to hand out to your cast and crew. Everything is printed through your browser, so you can send it straight to a printer or save it as a PDF to share digitally.

## Opening the Print Panel

To open the print panel, use either of these options from inside a schedule:

- Click the "File" menu in the schedule menu bar and select "Print..."
- Press **Ctrl/Cmd + P**

The print panel shows a live preview on the left and the print options on the right. Choose what you want to print using the three tabs at the top: **Boards**, **Dood** and **Reports**. The preview updates as soon as you change an option.

**Note:** Printing requires an active subscription or a team account.

## Printing Your Document

When the preview looks right:

1. Click the "Print" button at the bottom of the panel
2. Your browser's print dialog will open
3. Choose a printer, or choose "Save as PDF" to create a PDF file

Think Crew names the document for you based on what you're printing, so your PDFs are easy to find later.

**Tip:** If you're using Safari or Firefox, turn off the "Print headers and footers" option in your browser's print dialog. Otherwise, the extra space the browser adds can cause pages to break in the wrong places.

## Header and Page Options

Every tab has the same two sections at the bottom.

### Header

The header text appears at the top of each printed page. Each tab has its own header, and the text is saved with your schedule so everyone on your team prints with the same header.

You can include variables in your header, such as the schedule name, board name or revision. Click the info icon next to the header field to see the available variables and copy one into your header. You can also store your own values in your schedule settings. See [Using Variables](https://help.thinkcrew.com/knowledgebase/using-variables/) for the full list of variables, and [Schedule Settings](https://help.thinkcrew.com/knowledgebase/schedule-settings/) for custom values.

### Page Options

- **Page Layout:** Portrait or Landscape
- **Page Size:** Letter, Legal, Ledger or A4

## Printing Boards

The Boards tab prints a board from your current scenario. Start by choosing the **Board** you want to print, then choose a **View**: Strips, Calendar or Duration. The options below change depending on the view you choose.

### Strips View

The Strips view prints your board as a traditional stripboard.

- **Layout Design:** The design used to lay out the strips. You must choose a design before you can print.
- **Cover page:** Add a cover page on the first or last page, or leave it off. The cover page shows the project name, your header, the total number of days, the start and wrap dates, and a list of the cast with their ID numbers.
- **Hide Non Working:** Appears when a cover page is turned on. Leaves cast members who don't work on this board out of the cover page's cast list.
- **Page Breaks:** Choose how pages are divided:
  - *Natural:* Fill each page before starting the next one
  - *At day break:* Start a new page after every day break, so each shoot day begins on a new page
  - *No orphans:* Keep each day's strips together, moving the whole day to the next page if it won't fit
- **Print Only Selected Strips:** Print just the strips you have selected on the board
- **Use Tight Print Margins:** Reduce the page margins to fit more on each page
- **Show All Days:** Print the whole board. Turn this off to enter a **Day Range**, such as days 1 to 5, and print only those shoot days.
- **Banners** and **Day Breaks:** Print them in their normal colors, force them to white or black, or hide them
- **Strips:** Print strips in their normal colors, or force them to white to save ink

### Duration View

The Duration view prints your board with each strip sized by how long it takes to shoot. It has the same Cover page, Show All Days, Day Range, Banners, Strips and Day Breaks options as the Strips view.

### Calendar View

The Calendar view prints your board as a calendar, with each day's strips listed on its date.

- **Date Range:** The dates to print. Click "Reset dates" to go back to the board's full date range.
- **Print Only Selected Strips:** Print just the strips you have selected on the board
- **Show Days Off:** Include the board's days off in the calendar
- **Show As Month:** Print a full month on each page. When this is on, the Date Range option is hidden.

For a detailed guide to every board option, see [Printing Boards](https://help.thinkcrew.com/knowledgebase/printing-boards/).

## Printing the Day Out of Days

The Dood tab prints your Day Out of Days. Choose a **Category**, such as Cast, and a **Board**. You can also choose "Combined Boards" to print every board in the scenario together. Then choose a **View**: Grid or Calendar.

### Grid View

- **Header Board:** Print the rows of dates and shoot days at the top of every page, or only on the first page
- **Show:** Turn the grid's Color, Count, Days off and Grid lines on or off
- **Date Range:** The dates to print. Click "Reset dates" to go back to the full range.
- **Filter by Element Status:** Print only elements with a minimum number of Work, Hold, Travel or Holiday days. For example, choose Work and enter 5 to print only the elements that work at least 5 days. Choose "Show all" to turn the filter off.
- **Limit to episode:** Print only one episode. This option only appears when your schedule has more than one episode.
- **Hide non-working elements:** Leave out elements that don't work on the selected board

### Calendar View

The Calendar view prints the Day Out of Days as a calendar showing which elements work on each day. Turn on **Show Days Off** to include days off.

## Printing Reports

The Reports tab prints reports based on your breakdowns. Choose a **Report Type**, a **Category** and a **Board** (or "Combined Boards").

- **Category Work Report:** Lists every element in the category with its Day Out of Days totals, such as work, hold and total days
- **Category By Day Report:** Lists each shoot day with all of the elements from the category that work that day
- **Element Detail Report:** A detailed page for each element in the category, showing its start, work and finish dates along with the scenes and sets it appears in
- **Breakdown Sheets:** A breakdown sheet for each strip on the board, in board order, with its scene details and elements. Breakdown sheets include every category, so the Category option is grayed out for this report.

Depending on the report type, you'll see one extra option:

- **Hide Non Working:** For the Category Work and Element Detail reports, leaves out elements that don't work on the selected board
- **Exclude Banners & Days:** For Breakdown Sheets, leaves out banners and day breaks so you only print sheets for your scenes

For a detailed look at what each report contains, see [Printing Reports](https://help.thinkcrew.com/knowledgebase/printing-reports/).

Printed schedules and reports keep everyone on the same page, especially on set where there might not be an internet connection. With a few clicks you can create exactly the paperwork each department needs.
