Duplicating schedules in Think Crew is a powerful way to create alternative versions of your production timeline or to use an existing schedule as a template for new planning scenarios.
When to Duplicate a Schedule
Consider duplicating a schedule when you need to:
- Create “what-if” scenarios without altering your master schedule
- Develop alternative shooting plans to compare different approaches
- Use a successful schedule as a template for future productions
- Create a backup before making significant changes
- Set up similar schedules for different units (main unit, second unit, etc.)
How to Duplicate a Schedule
Duplicating a schedule takes just a few steps:
- Navigate to the Schedules page in your project
- Click “Select” from the top left menu bar
- Click the checkbox in any schedules you wish to duplicate. You can select 1 or many.
- Click “Duplicate” to create the copy
What Gets Duplicated
When you duplicate a schedule, Think Crew copies:
- All schedule items and their arrangement
- Custom schedule settings and preferences
- Breakdowns
- Categories & elements
- Scenarios & boards
- Calendars
Working with Your Duplicated Schedule
After duplication, your new schedule is completely independent from the original:
- Changes to the duplicate won’t affect the original schedule
- The duplicate will appear in your schedule list with its new name
- You can immediately open and edit the duplicated schedule
- Consider using a clear naming convention to distinguish between schedule versions
Schedule duplication gives you the flexibility to explore different production scenarios while maintaining the integrity of your primary schedule, making it easy to compare options and optimize your planning process.
