AI Scene Descriptions: Data Security and Privacy

6 min read

Think Crew uses Claude AI technology to automatically generate scene descriptions for your scripts and schedules. This feature is designed to save you time while maintaining the highest standards of data security and privacy. This article provides complete transparency about how this process works, how your data is handled, and what security measures are in place.

How AI Scene Descriptions Work #

Where You’ll Find This Feature #

AI scene descriptions are available in two locations:

  1. During Script Import – Scene descriptions can be automatically generated when you upload a new script
  2. Within Existing Scripts/Schedules – Generate descriptions for selected scenes on-demand from the script or schedule pages

The Technology Behind the Feature #

Think Crew partners with Anthropic to provide AI-powered scene descriptions using Claude AI. This integration allows us to offer state-of-the-art natural language processing capabilities while maintaining strict data security protocols.

Data Flow and Security Process #

Step-by-Step Data Journey #

Understanding exactly how your data moves through our system is important for your peace of mind. Here’s the complete process:

  1. User Initiates Request
    • You select scenes for description generation in your browser
    • Your browser sends the scene data to Think Crew’s secure API
  2. Think Crew API Processing
    • Our API receives your scene data on our secure servers
    • We use the official @anthropic-ai/sdk to format and send requests to Claude AI
    • Only the specific scene content you’ve selected is transmitted
  3. Claude AI Processing
    • Anthropic’s Claude AI analyzes the scene content and generates descriptions
    • Claude processes this data according to Anthropic’s strict privacy standards
    • Generated descriptions are returned to Think Crew’s API
  4. Data Return and Storage
    • Think Crew’s API receives the generated descriptions from Claude
    • The descriptions are sent back to your browser for immediate use
    • Generated descriptions are stored in Think Crew’s database for future reference

Security Measures in Place #

  • Encrypted Transmission: All data is transmitted using industry-standard encryption (HTTPS/TLS)
  • Secure API Integration: We use Anthropic’s official SDK with proper authentication
  • Minimal Data Sharing: Only the specific scene content you select is shared with Claude AI
  • No Persistent Storage at Anthropic: Your script content is not stored by Anthropic after processing

Privacy and Data Protection #

Your Data Rights #

Data Ownership: You retain complete ownership of your script content and all generated scene descriptions.

Data Usage: Your script content is used solely for generating the scene descriptions you request. It is not used for any other purpose.

Training Data: Your content will not be used to train Claude AI or any other machine learning models. Anthropic has committed to not using customer data for model training purposes.

Third-Party Data Processing #

When you use AI scene descriptions, Think Crew acts as a data processor on your behalf. Here’s what this means:

  • Limited Purpose: Scene content is only shared with Claude AI for the specific purpose of generating descriptions
  • No Secondary Use: Anthropic does not use your data for any purpose other than providing the requested service
  • Controlled Access: Only authorized Think Crew systems can access the AI service on your behalf

Privacy Policy References #

This AI integration is governed by:

  • Think Crew Privacy Policy: https://thinkcrew.com/privacy – Details how Think Crew handles your data
  • Anthropic Privacy Policy: https://www.anthropic.com/privacy – Explains Anthropic’s data handling practices

We recommend reviewing both policies to understand your rights and how your data is protected throughout the entire process.

Data Retention and Deletion #

Think Crew Data Storage #

  • Generated scene descriptions are stored in your Think Crew account for easy access
  • You can edit, modify, or delete generated descriptions at any time
  • When you delete a project or scene, associated AI-generated descriptions are also deleted

Anthropic Data Handling #

  • Anthropic does not retain your script content after processing
  • API requests are not logged with your content for training or other purposes
  • Your data is processed in real-time and not stored persistently by Anthropic

Transparency and Control #

What Data Is Shared #

When you use AI scene descriptions, only the following information is shared with Claude AI:

  • Scene Content: The text content of the specific scenes you select for description generation
  • Context Information: Minimal formatting data to help Claude understand scene structure

What Data Is NOT Shared #

  • Your personal account information
  • Other scenes or scripts in your account
  • Project metadata (cast, crew, locations, etc.)
  • Any data from other users or projects

User Controls #

You have complete control over this feature:

  • Opt-In Usage: AI scene descriptions are only generated when you specifically request them
  • Selective Processing: You choose exactly which scenes to process
  • Edit Results: You can modify or replace any AI-generated content
  • Delete Anytime: Remove generated descriptions whenever you want

Technical Security Details #

API Security #

  • Authentication: All API calls use secure authentication tokens
  • Rate Limiting: Requests are properly throttled to prevent abuse
  • Error Handling: Failed requests do not expose sensitive information
  • Logging: We maintain security logs without storing sensitive content

Data Encryption #

  • In Transit: All data is encrypted using TLS 1.3 during transmission
  • At Rest: Generated descriptions are encrypted in Think Crew’s database
  • Processing: Data is processed in secure, encrypted environments

Compliance and Standards #

Think Crew’s AI integration meets industry security standards:

  • Data Processing: Compliant with data protection regulations
  • Security Standards: Industry-standard encryption and security practices
  • Audit Trail: Comprehensive logging for security monitoring
  • Regular Reviews: Ongoing security assessments and improvements
