On a long board it’s easy to lose track of where you are. The Strip Minimap is a narrow, zoomed-out view of your whole board that sits alongside your strips. It shows every strip as a thin colored line, so you can see the shape of your entire schedule at a glance and jump to any part of it with one click.
Turning the Minimap On or Off
To show the minimap:
- Click the view dropdown in the board pane’s menu bar
- Select “Show MiniMap”
The minimap appears on the right side of the board. To hide it, select “Show MiniMap” again.
The minimap setting applies to all of your boards, and Think Crew remembers it on your device, so it stays on until you turn it off. Turning the minimap on or off only affects your own screen.
The minimap is available in the Strips view. It isn’t available in the Calendar view, where the option is grayed out. See Board Views (Strips, Calendar, Duration).
Reading the Minimap
Each strip, banner and day break on your board appears in the minimap as a thin line, in the same order as the board:
- Colors match your strips, so you can spot patterns at a glance, such as day and night scenes, interiors and exteriors, or where your day breaks fall. See Creating a Palette and Manually Setting a Strip’s Color.
- Selected strips are highlighted with a yellow edge, so you can see where your selection is on the board
- Completed strips are shown faded
- The outlined box shows the part of the board that’s currently visible on your screen. It moves as you scroll the board.
On very long boards, the minimap scrolls by itself to keep the outlined box in view.
Jumping to Part of the Board
Click anywhere in the minimap to scroll the board to that point. This is the quickest way to move between the start, middle and end of a long schedule, or to jump to a selected strip you can see highlighted in the minimap.
Tips
- Find your selection: When you’ve selected strips spread across a long board, look for the yellow highlights in the minimap to see where they all are. See Updating Multiple Breakdowns (Multi-Select).
- Check your days at a glance: Day breaks stand out in the minimap, so it’s easy to see whether your days are evenly sized. See Adding Day Breaks.
- Use it with drag and drop: Click the minimap to bring the destination into view, then drag your strips there. See Drag and Drop Scheduling.
The Strip Minimap gives you the big picture of your schedule without losing your place, making even the longest boards quick to navigate.
