Pane Groups

The schedule page is made up of panes: resizable areas that each show part of your schedule, such as your boards, the breakdown pane or the Day Out of Days. A pane group is a ready-made layout of these panes. Switching pane groups instantly rearranges your screen for the job at hand, whether that’s breaking down scenes, building your board or checking your Day Out of Days.

Choosing a Pane Group

You can switch pane groups in two ways:

  • Click the “Panes” dropdown at the top right of the schedule and choose a pane group
  • Click the “Window” menu in the schedule menu bar, open “Pane Groups” and choose a pane group

Your screen is rearranged straight away. Think Crew remembers the pane group you chose for each schedule, along with any changes you make to it, so the next time you open the schedule your panes are just as you left them. Each person on your team can choose their own pane group, and your choice doesn’t affect anyone else.

The Pane Groups

Think Crew includes four pane groups. Each one shows the same tools, arranged for a different task.

Default

A balanced layout for everyday scheduling:

  • Left column: The Breakdown pane, with a Recycle Bin tab, and the Elements pane below it
  • Right: Your boards, plus a Script tab
  • Bottom: A slim Day Out of Days pane that you can drag taller when you need it

Breakdown

A layout for breaking down scenes, with everything you need side by side:

  • Left column: The Breakdown pane, with Day Out of Days and Recycle Bin tabs, and the Elements pane below it
  • Middle: The Script, so you can read each scene as you break it down
  • Right: Your boards

Dood

A layout for working on your Day Out of Days:

  • Top: The Breakdown pane (with a Recycle Bin tab), the Elements pane, and your boards with a Script tab, side by side
  • Bottom: A large Day Out of Days pane

Tabs Only

A single full-screen pane with a tab for everything: Breakdown, Elements, your boards, the Recycle Bin, Script and Day Out of Days. Click a tab to switch between them. This is ideal for smaller screens, laptops and tablets, where there isn’t room to show several panes at once.

What’s in Each Pane

Adjusting the Layout

Once you’ve chosen a pane group, you can fine-tune it. Drag the dividers between panes to resize them, drag tabs to reorder them, or drag a tab to the edge of a pane to split it into a new pane. See Managing Panes (Tab Pane System) for details.

Your adjustments are saved automatically for each schedule, in your browser on this device. If you open the schedule on another computer or browser, it starts from the pane group’s original layout.

To reset your layout, choose a pane group again, even the one you’re already using. Your panes go back to that pane group’s original arrangement and sizes. This is a quick way to tidy up if your layout gets cluttered. Choosing a different pane group also replaces your current adjustments.

Adding a Board

To add a new board to your current scenario, click the “Window” menu and choose “New Board Pane”. The new board appears as a tab alongside your other boards. To rename it or set its start date and calendar, see Managing Schedule Scenarios.

Pane groups let you switch your whole workspace with a single click, so you always have the right tools in front of you for each stage of scheduling.
